We also get together to charter "bareboats" (i.e. we don't hire a captain; we do it ourselves), renting boats all over the world on trips lasting from a weekend (in the Twin Cities area) to a week or two (in the Caribbean, Mediterranean, Pacific - in just about any ocean we want to sail in).

The planning and execution is all handled by volunteers (to keep the costs manageable) - please contact the NLSC Trip Chair if you would like to help.

Don't worry: Experienced sailors will help you organize and execute these trips - a great way to pick up sailing organizational skills and experience. Many of us have started with these trips and now can charter and handle the big boats by ourselves - that's because our experienced sailors will teach you what they know, and you will be expected to participate in all of the fun, pleasures and chores of sailing. (These trips generally are not cruises where you just sit back and enjoy the ride.)
