The July 20 meeting will be a lake recreation event at a memberÕs turn-of-the-century house on Bald Eagle Lake. The primary focus will be four or five 28-foot E scows from the Bald Eagle Yacht Club, using 3 to 4 NLSC members for crew (owner will be aboard). NLSC members will also man the judging raft (if interested, let Dave know). A small course will be set in front of the house. Members will rotate positions, assisted by pontoon boats used for spectators and to facilitate transportation to and from the dock. Members may launch their own boats at the public ramp one quarter of a mile away by water.

Sailing starts at 5 oÕclock. Do not wait until the normal 6:30 p.m. or you may miss out on the sailing when winds die at sunset. Half the members will be on the water at any one time, in order to accommodate as many as possible who wish to sail.

The potluck (bring a dish to share and your beverage) will begin at 6 p.m. and the theme is ÒPicnic.Ó Paper plates, napkins and utensils will be provided by NLSC and picnic tables by BEYC. There will be yard games like badminton, croquet and bean bag toss. Members may bring guests, including children with life vests, and should have a change of clothes in the car (ÒScow sailors have soggy bunsÓ).

The Bald Eagle Yacht Club has given permission (which provides insurance coverage) to use their buoys and judging raft.

Directions: From the intersection of I-694 & 35E (8 miles north of St. Paul), take I-694 east (past where I-35E turns north for Duluth) for less than one mile to Highway 61 (US-61 N EXIT 48). Turn left (north) onto US-61 N and continue for 5.2 miles. At the Buffalo St. stoplight, turn left (west) for three short blocks to the stop sign on Eagle Ave. Turn right (north) for one block to the party at 5436 East Bald Eagle Blvd.

Parking is not permitted on East Bald Eagle Blvd., and Eagle Ave. is narrow so we would like to limit parking to only the east side of Eagle Ave. on this block. If Eagle Ave. looks full you may have to turn south (rather than north) at Buffalo St. for additional parking.

PLEASE CONSIDER CARPOOLING because of the limited available parking.

Weather permitting, itÕs going to be a fabulous time!
