As a service to our members, we also exchange information about privately-organized sailing trips that are open to our members.

Many of our members prefer to organize and run their own trips and, while the NLSC disclaims responsibility for these trips, we encourage our members to contact the trip leaders and join any trips they might be interested in.

Many of our members get together to charter "bareboats" (i.e. we don't hire a captain; we do it ourselves), renting boats all over the world on trips lasting from a weekend (in the Twin Cities area) to a week or two (in the Caribbean, Mediterranean, Pacific - in just about any ocean we want to sail in).

As with our trailerable trips, the planning and execution is all handled by volunteers (to keep the costs manageable) - please contact the Trip Leader or NLSC Trip Coordinator if you would like to help.

Don't worry: Experienced sailors will help you organize and execute these trips - a great way to pick up sailing organizational skills and experience. Many of us have started with these trips and now can charter and handle the big boats by ourselves - that's because our experienced sailors will teach you what they know, and you will be expected to participate in all of the fun, pleasures and chores of sailing. (These trips generally are not cruises where you just sit back and enjoy the ride.)
